Withdrawal-path analysis during retirement
The Withdraw application computes portfolio value and the money extracted from a portfolio during a retirement withdrawal period.
What the Withdraw app computes
The Withdraw app is intended to show how different portfolio designs behave when money is being removed over time. It supports direct comparison of different portfolio types during a withdrawal period and can be very revealing because withdrawals expose sequence-of-return effects that may not be obvious from accumulation charts alone.
Portfolio value
Track the remaining portfolio value through a retirement withdrawal period.
Money extracted
Compute the amount of money withdrawn from the portfolio over time.
Portfolio comparison
Compare different types of portfolios during the same withdrawal period to observe how design choices affect retirement outcomes.
Why this matters
During retirement, the timing of gains and losses can matter as much as the long-term average return. The Withdraw app is designed to make this withdrawal experience visible by showing both the value remaining in the portfolio and the money extracted from it.
