Underwater analysis for portfolio stress periods
The Underwater application computes the path of an initial investment in a portfolio with special focus on any period when the portfolio is underwater.
What the Underwater app computes
The Underwater app is intended to show when a portfolio falls below a previous high-water mark, how deep those underwater periods become, and how long they last before recovery.
Underwater periods
Identify periods when the portfolio value is below a prior peak.
Underwater table
Include a table of underwater periods so the user can inspect each stress interval.
Linear and log scales
Allow the monetary value path to be viewed on both linear and log scales, helping reveal financial stress over time.
Why this matters
A portfolio can look strong over a full historical period while still creating difficult investor experiences during drawdowns. The Underwater app is designed to make those stress periods more visible and easier to review.
Future expansion notes
This static page can later describe the underwater methodology, include a sample chart, and explain why drawdown review matters when evaluating active ETF design.
